What do I see in Veliko Tarnovo?
If you love art, history, culture or are an art connoisseur, Veliko Tarnovo in central Bulgaria is a must-visit tourist destination for you. The historical capital of Bulgaria settled along the Yantra river on three hills has everything to offer to travelers. It’s unique architecture, the art district, a fort and some amazing food with stunning views makes sure you have a fantastic time experiencing the best of old and new world. A walk along the cobblestone paths in the old city lined with unique art stores where you not only get to see and buy things but also experience how they are made.
There are around 11 museums around the city, with The Tsarevgrad Tarnov Multimedia Visitor Center leading the way, a must see place in Veliko Tarnovo. The Tsarevets Fortress takes you back in time, especially the Ascension Cathedral nestled on top of the hill. The village of Arbanasi at about 4 kms from the city is worth exploring for its Bulgarian national revival architecture and multiple churches. There is a house of a Bulgarian trader which has been converted to a museum and is a must on any traveler’s to-do list. Experience the place through a few photographs that I had managed to click and see for yourself why you should visit it.
